KIIT Deemed to be University tops the charts by securing Rank 1 among the Private HEI (Higher Education Institution/s) in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements, an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India. This initiative aims to systematically rank all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculties. Besides a series of initiatives to help citizens of Odisha and providing support to the state government in the battle against COVID-19, KIIT and KISS have extended a helping hand to the Tibetan communities in Chandragiri of Gajapati district in Odisha. Though the COVID-19 Pandemic is not an immediate concern in this far flung area of Odisha, hunger and poverty remain an issue in many settlements in and around Chandragiri. The KIIT and KISS family have provided basic essentials and groceries for at least a month to the Tibetan families settled in Chandragiri and to the monks of Padmasambhava Mahavihara Monastery in Jirang, the largest Buddhist monastery in Eastern India. The world famous auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra was celebrated at Shrivani khetra of KISS on 4th July 2019 amid religious fervor and gaiety. More than 50 thousand devotees participated in pulling the three decorated chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra being carried on three colourful wooden chariots, festooned with flowers, appliqué and mural paintings. By scoring a massive victory from Kandhamal Lok Sabha constituency in the General Election-2019, BJD leader Dr. Achyuta Samanta has defeated his nearest rival with a huge margin of 1,49,216 votes. While, a total of five candidates were in the fray for the Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat, the competition was chiefly between Dr. Samanta, BJP’s Aira Kharabela Swain and Congress’ Manoj Kumar Acharya.
