CSI Fellowship Award to Achyuta Samanta
KIIT & KISS Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta was conferred Honorary Fellowship Award by Computer Society of India (CSI) in Hyderabad on 13thDecember 2014. It is among the highest national-level awards of the Society, instituted in the year 1979, with an intention to honour distinguished personalities who have served the society with dedication, devotion and faith or those who have excelled in fields related to the society. The award recognizes Dr. Samanta’s contribution in making a difference to the society through education.
It was conferred upon Dr. Samanta in presence of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Ind.) for Labour and Employment, Shri K. Taraka Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister of Panchayatiraj and IT, Govt. of Telengana and many other dignitaries.
Nomination of awardees follows a stringent process. A search committee was made under the guidance of the Chairman of the Education and Awards Committee. The search committee proposes the names of suitable persons of the award of fellowship. Earlier, recipients of this prestigious award include eminent personalities like, Mr. Ratan Tata in 1993, Prof. Yash Pal in 1994 and Mr. Chandrababu Naidu in 1998.
