The 105th session of Indian Science Congress, a gathering of scientific luminaries from countries across the world, will be held at Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad from January 3 to 7 next year, informed Prof. Achyuta Samanta, General President of Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) at a Press Meet in Hyderabad on March 25, 2017.

“A committee was formed under the Chairmanship of Dr. Ashok Saxena, past President of ISCA to select the venue for 105th Indian Science Congress. Five reputed universities, including KIIT University, had applied to host the session. After careful consideration, the Committee recommended the name of Osmania University”, Prof. Samanta said, elaborating on the selection process.

Osmania University is one of the best, most prestigious and progressive universities of India. Having completed 100 years of existence, it is celebrating its centenary this year. “We had given a proposal to Osmania University to host the forthcoming Indian Science Congress. Osmania University gladly accepted it and gave their consent for the same”, Prof. Samanta remarked.

He thanked Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana for his assurance of full support to make the meet a grand success. Prof. Samanta also hoped that Osmania University will make the 105th session of Indian Science Congress a grand success as KIIT University had done, when it had hosted the 99th Indian Science Congress in 2012.
