Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences spoke and presented his views on “Sports and Social Business” at he 8th Social Business Day in Bengaluru hosted by Yunus Social Business, India in Collaboration with INK and Infosys.

This is the signature event of the Yunus Centre which marks an annual celebration of social business with participation from social business practitioners, academicians and researchers, students and enthusiasts from across the world.

The theme of 8th Social Business Day is : A world of three Zeros : Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, Zero Net Carbon Emissions.

The Social Business Day under the mentorship of Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate has brought together the examples of innovative social businesses solving deep rooted social problems for seven years now. It is a platform for innovation operating at the intersection of science, technology, community and culture.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Emmanuel Faber, global CEO, Danone, Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, and Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Managing Director, Narayana Hrudayalaya. Over 1200 delegates from 42 countries registered to participate in the event on Social Business Day.

Like previous years, Social Business Day 2018 was set to exchange experiences and ideas and also work on plans to create social businesses that tackle the most pressing problems of society.A number of plenary sessions and panels were scheduled during the two days.

The second day’s programme includes a pre-conference on Social Business Academia 2018. The pre-conference is primarily organised for academics and researchers to network and exchange academic developments and prepare for the Social Business Academia Conference to be held in Wolfsburg, Germany in November.
